In Part 2, Principles of Lure Design, Larry discusses how Center of Gravity & Buoyancy and how those principles affect the way a lure acts and performs in the water.

Bouyancy, using two different materials together:

  • Alumilite Resin (heavier than water) + Alumifoam (tough and bouyoant)
  • Microballon Alumilite Resin + Tungsten Powder

Center of gravity

  • Top water lure - balance weight in back
  • Slapper - all weight in rear as it stands up
  • Zig Zag - even balance across lure sinking evenly in water
  • Crank Bait - create balance at pivot point
